Copper taken from Fannie Mae

BURTON — Contractors called police after seeing that the door was kicked in at the Fannie Mae building on Feb. 7. A unknown amount of copper was cut out of the basement. There are no suspects at this time. The case is still active.

Man cited for pot possession

BURTON — A man was pulled over traveling west-bound on Maple Road at the intersection of Saginaw Road. The officer asked if the man had anything on him he should know about. The man said “no”; the officer checked. A green, leafy substance was found in the man’s waistband. The man was arrested and taken to the Genesee County Jail. The vehicle was towed and the substance tested. 3.2 grams of marijuana was confirmed as the leafy, green substance and secured as evidence.

Woman ‘flips’ over cigarettes

BURTON — At approximately 7:25 p.m. Feb. 6, a 49-year-old female stole a pack of cigarettes from the Sunoco on Davison Road. The surveillance tape confirmed the theft; an officer contacted the woman for a statement. The woman claimed that she was “playing” with the complainant and returned the cigarettes. The complainant said the woman came back to the store after she realized the cigarettes were missing and the woman threw the cigarettes at her. The woman was arrested and charged with 3rd degree retail fraud.

TV stolen from home

BURTON — A man left his residence for approximately nine hours to return to a missing TV and DVD player. Later, he noticed that the rear door had been kicked in. The arresting officer noticed muddy foot prints by the rear door. There are no witnesses and the case is still open.— Compiled by Tara Moreno
