City adds 3D fireworks to Memorial Day
BURTON — A new addition to the 2012 Memorial Day festivities is planned.
“We will be introducing 3D fireworks this year,” said Stacy Betts, Chairman of Memorial Day Festivities.
Some 2,000 pairs of 3D glasses are being donated by City Council and will be handed out at the ceremony.
“Right before the fireworks we will have the Memorial service which is a really moving ceremony,” said City Councilman Steve Heffner.
The parade — which was cut due to budget constraints last year — will be reintroduced to the festivities.
“I think it’s important to have a Memorial Day parade,” said Councilman Danny Wells. “We have had the best one in the state for years and years.”
The parade is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the 3D fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m., May 28.
“This [3D fireworks] is going to be spectacular ending to a grand event,” said Betts.
The official timeline for all the Memorial Day festivities will be finalized at the beginning of March. The cost of the fireworks are about $5,000 and will be paid for through a donation by Meijer.
