GENESEE COUNTY – The Genesee County Road Commission has identified its top five road projects for 2015.

These projects do not include road maintenance, but are instead major resurfacing and reconstruction that will go to bid in the next 30 days, said GCRC Director John Daly.

Bids will be awarded in late April. Monetary figures will be available at that time.

Here are this year’s major road projects:

Flushing Road: Elms to Mill roads. This four-lane roadway is in very poor condition, said Daly, with numerous potholes and cold patches.

Pierson Road: Linden to Jennings roads. This multi-lane roadway is in very poor condition with numerous potholes, cold patches and concrete slab failure.

Richfield Road: Belsay to Vassar roads. This five-lane highway is in “dire need of reconstruction”, said Daly. It is in very poor condition with high maintenance cost.

Fenton Road: Hill Road to Maple Avenue. This four-lane roadway is in very poor condition with numerous potholes and cold patches.

Bristol Road Bridge over the Call Drain, just west of I-75/U.S.-23. The deck and the stringers are in poor condition that resulted in posting of the bridge below the legal roads.. The bridge of Bristol Road serves numerous businesses including GM Flint Assembly Plant, Engine Plant, Bishop Airport and many others.
